Dorothy Dahlgren

Orchid: Distinguished Preservationist

For promoting historic preservation in northern Idaho throughout her career

Dorothy Dahlgren

Dorothy is recognized this year for her career of contribution to historic preservation in northern Idaho. Since 1982 Dorothy has been the Executive Director of the Museum of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene. She serves in a volunteer capacity for the Idaho Association of Museums, the Western Museum Association, the American Association for State and Local History, and the Idaho Heritage Trust. In addition, she has found time since 1996 to volunteer on the Kootenai County Historic Preservation Commission and in 1991 she co-authored a book entitled In All the West No Place Like This: A Pictorial History of the Coeur d’Alene Region.

For twenty-five years Dorothy has represented the interests of historic preservation in the northern portion of Idaho and we hope to induce her to remain in the profession a bit longer. We are pleased to select Dorothy as Preservation Idaho’s Distinguished Preservationist of 2008.
