Boise Architecture Project
Orchid: Cultural Heritage Preservation
Awarded to Douglas Stanwiens and the Boise Architecture Project
For the creation and implementation of an architectural history program at Timberline High School in Boise

The Boise Architecture Project was initiated by AP history teacher Douglas Stanwiens of Timberline High School in 2006. The program encourages a discussion of architecture and historic preservation between students of history, geography, and photography. The program asks students to collect information on buildings around the city. Once this information is collected, it is presented to their peers and posted to the website (thsaphistory.info/architecture). They program further encourages discussion of this topic through guest lectures and neighborhood tours. This innovative program, created by Doug Stanwiens encourages appreciation of historic preservation by a younger generation and we are pleased to recognize Doug Stanwiens and the Boise Architecture Project for their efforts on behalf of Cultural Heritage Preservation.
